Company History
Our Story
1960s and 1970s
The first Sir Speedy printing center opened in 1968 in Costa Mesa, California and within five years it was named the fastest-growing franchise in the country. In 1977, Sir Speedy was purchased by Kampgrounds of America.
1980s
In the 1980s, Sir Speedy was the first in the
quick printing industry to introduce a nationwide network of fax machines and color copiers and began using electronic publishing over traditional typesetting with Macintosh computers. In 1981, Don Lowe joined the company as chief executive officer, and that same year the company was taken private.
1990s
In the 1990s, Sir Speedy focused on helping companies with all of their
business document needs by providing short-run, quick-turnaround, full-color digital printing. 1992 brought the fifth straight year of industry-leading sales. In 1995, Sir Speedy became the first printing franchise to launch a website. Throughout the 1990s the company also focused on international expansion and, today with its network of global affiliates, Sir Speedy extends to nearly 800 locations in 16 countries.
2000s
In the early 2000s, Sir Speedy continued to help customers with their
business communication needs by leveraging the power and convenience of the Internet and bringing Web to Print capabilities to its customers, as well as online document management and personalized, one-to-one communications.
