Why We're Different

Our Story

People often ask us why we’re different. Why do business owners from North Palm Beach to Stuart come all the way to Tequesta when there are so many other business printers along the way? Well, it’s really very simple – we know what we’re doing and we know how to do it well.

At Sir Speedy, we offer more than just a building full of printing presses. We offer wisdom, experience and knowledge -- certainly some of the most valuable resources in the business. Through all economic tides, Sir Speedy has remained strong, solid and successful. And that's what we teach our customers -- how to be successful in trying times like these.

Our innovative marketing skills consistently yield new growth opportunities for all the customer bases we serve -- real estate, hospitality, manufacturing, medical, retail, property management, construction, professional service, government and so many more.

Come and vist Sir Speedy . . . and watch your sales take off!

On a more personal note, we recently upgraded each department at Sir Speedy with the latest technology in both hardware and software. We installed a Heidelberg offset press – the most recognized printing press in the world; a Xerox digital press – the first in northern Palm Beach County; a CTP platemaking system to guarantee perfect registration on each job we print; a new PC and MAC with a Terabyte of memory – thats 1,024,000 Megabytes. Yikes! We also added a sign and banner department headed up with a HP 42” wide format poster printer.

We bundled all this new technology around a super powerful FTP server so clients could send us endless files 24/7 no matter how large they were without ‘crashing’ or being bounced back to them.

And, finally we added WiFi wireless equipment to our lobby area so clients could walk in with their own laptops and send files directly to our printers for print-while-you-wait service.

Our Team

After a 30 year career of designing and printing large color catalogs for mail order and retail store chains, Richard and Ferne decided to move from their home in suburban Philadelphia to Florida, and "retire." (If you know Richard, start laughing here.) The “retirement” lasted about two months when they decided to buy a “little print shop” to keep themselves busy. (Busy, HA!) By the third year they won their first “Century Club” award as one of the top Sir Speedy printing centers in the world; an achievement that has not stopped with their eighth consecutive Century Club award in 2011. Along the way, they have also won the Sir Speedy “Million Dollar Award” and has been selected as members of the prestigious Presidents Council. Richard is an honorary board member to six other independently owned Sir Speedy print shops, and mentors the owners on marketing, his specialty. Locally, Sir Speedy was recently named a “Small Business of Excellence” award winner by the Jupiter-Tequesta Chamber of Commerce; can be found on "Google" for their expertise in QR Codes and has been featured in the Palm Beach Post for Richards work with small and medium sized businesses during these recent tough economic times.
Debby is the only print shop manager in North America who customers specifically ask for by name to work on their projects. We’ve never seen any thing like it! Debby has the unique ability to see problems before they happen; she can touch a sheet of paper and know exactly how it will react in many shop applications; and she does something that no other print shop manager has ever done before – she smiles. Debby has been managing print shops for 30 years. Come challenge her with your toughest jobs – we dare ‘ya.
Jean is the first person you meet at Sir Speedy. She is our greeter both in person and on the telephone. But most important, she’s our estimator. It’s Jean’s job to make sure we fully understand the specifications of your job; lay out a clearly defined manufacturing plan and get the job done when it’s due. Jean has been with Sir Speedy for 20 years and has an impeccable record of meeting deadlines and saving customers money. We challenge you to find another printer who leaves you with a better first impression than our own Jean Pepe.
There are over 850 different colors in a pressman’s ink palette and Shawn knows each one by name. Actually, by number. A 15 year pressroom veteran, Shawn has all the elements of a great pressman – he’s skilled; knowledgeable and most important, he’s patient. Some days he could have as many as 25 jobs lined up and he approaches each one as if it were the most important job he has ever printed – which of course, when it’s your job on press -- it is the most important job he’s ever printed. Unlike other pressmen who just follow instructions, if Shawn doesn’t like what he’s seeing he’ll stop the press and call an instant meeting with the production manager and the designer and put them to task to fix whatever he feels is preventing the job from being absolutely perfect. We’re so lucky to have Shawn at Sir Speedy.
Behind every great print shop, there is a great bindery operator. And we’re so happy to have the best. Jude runs our bindery like a smooth running machine. Some days up to 50 orders need to be cut, folded, padded, numbered, perforated, turned into booklets or drilled. And then they need to be counted, boxed, invoiced, “made nice” as Jude says, loaded on a delivery route and shipped. Whew, that’s a mouthful. In addition, Jude keeps her ear on local traffic conditions around town to make sure our drivers don’t end up losing valuable time and missing a customer’s important deadline. We’re not called “Sir Speedy” for nothing!
Phil understands five languages. He understands Richard-isms; Jean-isms; Jen-isms; Debby-isms and the most important language of all – customer-isms. Yes, he has the distinctive artistic skill of figuring out what each of us is expecting his next new brochure, custom logo package, poster, postcard or even next new business card to look like. And he does all this with a great smile and lots of good humor. Phil has been a Jupiter fixture for over 20 years and has designed the marketing campaigns for hundreds of local businesses from Palm Beach Gardens to Tequesta. He has his own following, but still finds a few days a week to develop extraordinary marketing work, including exciting new websites for our Sir Speedy customers.
You’ve heard of dueling piano’s? Well, Rose is our dueling computer artist. For over 20 years she has created, designed and formatted graphics for both PC and MAC clients. And that’s no easy task. Whichever way a customer decides to create their job, Rose has the skills and knowledge to convert those files to exactly what we need. She is experienced in CS3 for both PC users and our MAC’ers. She is also an authorized Adobe® Service Provider willing and able to answer any of your questions right over the phone concerning InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and even Quark. Customers must really like her, each Christmas she gets more gifts than the boss.
No small business can do it alone today, and we’re no exception. Fortunately for us (and for our clients) we have a real pro to lean on and that’s Leo. A lifelong printer from New York, Leo joined the Sir Speedy corporate management team 13 years ago and was assigned to the southeast US region. His responsibilities are to keep us on our toes with the latest in technology; up-to-date pricing; financial stability; personnel issues and most of all, good friendship. Clients that choose to visit our shop with their printing orders would have certainly met Leo over the years. He only gets a chance to see us a few times a year, but we always look forward to his visits. Leo's a wonderful guy and a great friend, and we’re happy to have him on our team.
