Three new scholarships added to Legacy program
April 24, 2012
MISSION VIEJO, Calif., April 24, 2012—The Electronic Document Scholarship Foundation (EDSF), the international, non-profit organization dedicated to the document management and communications industries, announced three new scholarships totaling $6,000 for the 2012 academic year. The scholarships are sponsored by Franchise Services, Inc., (FSI) parent company of the Sir Speedy, PIP and Signal Graphics printing and marketing services franchises.
Richard Lowe, COO of Franchise Services said, “We are pleased to establish these scholarships for students attending California Polytechnic State University’s Graphic Communication program. With the rising costs of college tuition, we are honored to be able to help open the door to a college education for bright, creative young people choosing a career in our industry”.
The Don Lowe Honorary Scholarship is in honor of Don F. Lowe, the CEO of Franchise Services and past member and chairman of the EDSF Board of Directors, in recognition of his dedication to the graphic communications industry. Don is a recognized and respected leader who has set the standards of service and accomplishment in the FSI companies. He is a member of the Sales and Marketing Executives International Academy of Achievement Hall of Fame, selected for his lifetime contribution to the free enterprise system, and he is a past recipient of Quick Printing magazine’s Man of the Year.
The Sir Speedy Scholarship will honor the Sir Speedy 2012 franchisee of the year, and the PIP Scholarship will honor the PIP Printing and Marketing Services 2012 franchisee of the year. Both of whom will be announced in August at the company’s annual franchise convention. The highly coveted Franchisee of the Year award is given to a franchisee that has demonstrated leadership within the franchise network, the printing and marketing services industry and their community.
Brenda Kai, EDSF executive director explained, “These new scholarships are part of our recently created Legacy Scholarship program that is specifically designed to enable businesses to become involved with scholarships benefiting students and colleges in their local geographic area. We are honored that Franchise Services has selected EDSF to administer their scholarships.”
EDSF will continue accepting applications for all scholarships until May 1st. The scholarships will be awarded based on scholastic achievement, honors received, participation in school activities, and community service and organizational affiliations. Eligibility requirements include a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale and full-time student status.
