Digital Prepress/Graphic Designer
Produce prepress graphics
and design layouts to job specifications/requirements for a digital print
Executes design, layout and
typesetting projects accurately and effectively.
Prepare and send files successfully
to digital output equipment.
Assists inside and outside
sales staff in promoting various marketing and design services to clients.
Strong working knowledge of
Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (focus on InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, and
requirements in a timely and efficient manner to meet client sensitive
Offer creative graphic
design ideas, solutions and alternatives based on client input.
Schedule all work to meet client
time frame requirements.
Monitor deadlines and report conflicts to supervisor to establish priorities
BEFORE the jobs are due.
Ability to comprehend
verbal and written instructions, work independently and focused on task.
Responsible for operating
and maintaining MacOS computer, and other equipment, including Fiery RIP
Become proficient in the
current technology for creating graphics, documents, and digital files
utilizing existing equipment and materials.
Recurring follow-ups with clients
on all job specifications in an effort to maintain time sensitive schedules.
Monitor system for digital
files sent by customers via online storefront catalogs and email.
Preflight digital files for
potential problems, correct any issues prior to printing.
Perform daily computer
back-ups and archive client files for safekeeping and easy retrieval.
Purge obsolete and outdated files.
Output digital files per
Follow systems and
procedures as instructed by your supervisor.
Provide necessary digital design
and image resolution understanding to sales staff when appropriate.
Handle frequent priority
changes, amongst several client updates and revisions
Routine Job Notes regarding
every aspect of the job must be written clearly.
Ensure all design work has
been approved by the client prior to going into production.
Coordinate with the digital
print operator to ensure that print files meets their expectations/requirements.
Reject poor quality or
incorrect jobs and notify the supervisor.
Organize and maintain clean
and orderly work area.
Upon closing, follow the
shop’s guidelines to ensure equipment and office is shut down properly.
Prior to leaving ensure all
jobs are in an organized and well understood state.

Two years’ education in
graphic design, 2-year working experience with 1 year of digital-print
Working understanding of industry
standard graphic design software, a MUST. Such as: Adobe Creative Suite
(InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop) Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,
Knowledge of PDF and
postscript files and PDF plug-ins.
General knowledge of
utility programs such as file compression, disk repair and print spoolers (RIP).
Ability to prepare print files
for digital output, as well as manipulate client files to meet the
specifications of our digital machines
Prepare files accuracy for
offset printing, including understanding of spot color, trapping, image
resolution, and “packaging a file”.
Skilled in proofreading and
Intensive computer work and extended use of the computer
keyboard and mouse. Sitting for long periods of time. Exposure to airborne
particles such as paper dust, chemical fumes, and loud noises. Subject to
frequent priority changes where a fast-pace and short notice occur regularly.
